Beyond being a licensed physical therapist (DPT) and a PhD in Physical Therapy, I am also dual board-certified in Orthopedics and Geriatrics from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, which in turn is recognized and promoted by the American Physical Therapy Association. I have over 14 years of experience working with primarily geriatric, orthopedic, and amputee populations in nearly all the primary clinical settings (skilled nursing, sub-acute rehabilitation, acute rehabilitation, and outpatient rehabilitation.) I currently serve as the Chair and an Associate Professor of Physical Therapy at Stony Brook University in New York, where I am responsible for leading the Department of Physical Therapy. I have taught courses on human anatomy, kinesiology, orthopedics, neuroscience, and geriatric rehabilitation. I am a paid national speaker for Summit Professional Education where I teach a course on amputee rehabilitation for physical therapists, occupational therapists, and rehabilitation professionals. I also am a paid national speaker for Scorebuilders, a preparatory class for students going to take the physical therapy board examination. I have published numerous journal articles, book chapters, a commissioned monograph for the American Physical Therapy Association, and given many national or international conference presentations. My primary focus as an expert is: amputations, prosthetic devices, falls, orthopedic injury, pain, geriatric rehabilitation, and standards of care.
