A. Monique Burns, PhD, ACSW, LCSW is available as an expert consultant / witness, or professional witness by virtue of her education, training, and experience in the field of social work and child welfare. Dr. Burns has had a private clinical practice since 2013. She works with children, adolescents, and adults; individual, couples, families and/or runs therapeutic groups.
Dr. Burns has 36 years of experience in the field of child and family services, including 17 years in social work university instruction in the master’s and bachelor’s levels. Dr. Burns currently works in private practice as a provider for individuals, couples, and families, serving children, adolescents, and adults dealing with trauma as a result of child abuse and neglect, transitions, depression, anxiety, and family issues. Dr. Burns has also worked in adult outpatient treatment with dual diagnosis patients, and as an administrator of a multi-service children’s residential program with on-campus education, supervising the clinical and education teams. Dr. Burns has presented at local and national conferences, as well as provided consultation across the country.
Dr. Burns has consulted on 73 Legal Matters to-date in 21 states on child welfare, wrongful death, and social work malpractice.
