Dr. Schmalzried is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in hip arthritis, knee arthritis, and arthritis surgery, with specialty training in joint replacement at Harvard and the Massachusetts General Hospital. In over 30 years of practice, he has performed thousands of joint replacement procedures. In addition, Dr. Schmalzried has authored over 170 peer-reviewed scientific publications, winning multiple national research awards. Dr. Schmalzried has provided expert opinion or testified as an expert in medical malpractice, personal injury, and product liability cases, on behalf of plaintiffs and in defense. His clients include patients, surgeons, surgery centers and hospitals, Zimmer, Biomet, Smith-Nephew, Stryker, and The United States of America.
