Dr. Eric Yuan is an Adjunct Professor in the Computer Science Department at George Mason University, where he teaches graduate-level courses including Mathematical Foundation for Computer Science and Introduction to Artificial Intelligence. He is also the founder and president of an IT services firm, EntWerx LLC, that provides software subject matter expertise and strategic advisory to public sector clients including the Department of Defense (DoD).
He previously served as the VP of Engineering for the global consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton, a Fortune 500 firm. Prior to that, he was employed in various technical and/or management roles in companies such as Aerospace Corporation, Oracle Corporation, and Bell Atlantic (now Verizon). His key customers included the DoD Chief Data and AI Officer (CDAO), US Army, US Air Force, US Space Force, and many other organizations. In his industry career, he has a proven track record in architecting and delivering many complex, mission-critical software solutions.
He is academically known for his research in the Software Engineering arena. He has over 20 peer-reviewed research publications (Google Scholar Citation index over 1,400). He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the IEEE Computer Society, and the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), and have served in leadership roles in academic conferences, including as an organizing committee member for the International Conference on Software Architecture (ICSA).
Dr. Yuan has served as both expert witness and consultant on a variety of litigation matters, ranging from intellectual property cases involving patent, trade secret, and copyright law matters to breach of contract cases involving software project failures. Given his extensive experience as a software engineer in industry, Dr. Yuan has helped counsel with identifying relevant pieces of information in large, complex software systems.
