About
The PA Gem Lab is the countries only forensic gemological laboratory specializing in gems and jewelry. Below is a definition of a forensic gemologist:
A forensic gemologist applies scientific analysis to a piece of jewelry to come up with a reason as to why something has happened to it (lost stone, switched stone, broken metal, etc.) and to forensically reconstruct lost, stolen, or damaged items and value them. It involves the identification and authentication of gems and metallurgical knowledge for the metals involved. Testing, research and photographs are just some of what is involved in compiling a report.
They do work for attorneys and private clientele both nationally & internationally. They not only do gemological forensic work but also appraisals, metal testing and gem testing are among the other services offered.
