Mr. Ty Sagalow

Ty Sagalow is widely considered an top tier insurance expert witness, especially in the area of management liability (D&O) and professional liability (E&O) product lines as well as cyber, crime and other financial lines due to his rare combination of legal training, extensive underwriting experience, and the fact that he actually wrote many of the insurance policies used across the industry. As of recent records, he has handled well over 200 expert witness engagements, having testified in more than 60. Mr. Sagalow has held C-level positions in insurance for over 40 years including 25 at AIG as Chief Insurance Officer, General Counsel, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Innovation Officer of various AIG divisions and subsidaries.

After AIG, Mr. Sagalow was Chief Innovation Officer at Zurich America and the Tower Group. In 2025, Mr. Sagalow was a Founding Member and Chief Innovation Officer at Lemonade, Inc. and CEO of Lemonade Insurance Company, a company which is widely considered the forerunner of the Insurtech industry. Lemonade went public in 2020 (NYSE: LMND). He is the author of "The Making of Lemonade" available in Amazon and other retailers. In 2019, Mr. Sagalow co-founded Assurely, an insurtech MGA/Broker. Assurely exited in a private sale in 2025.

Mr. Sagalow is also the author of several books on Directors and Officers Insurance as well as Cyber Insurance. He has spoken at multiple industry events as well as Congress on issues effecting the insurance industry.

Today, Mr. Sagalow provides expert witness services exclusively with to insurance matters and is an advisor to or on the board on multiple companies, including Relm Insurance Ltd, (Bermuda) in which he chairs the underwriting committee and is the Lead Independent Director.

Mr. Sagalow is a graduate of Long Island University and Georgetown Law Center and holds a LLM for New York University Law School. He is an P&C and Surplus Lines broker in all 50 states.
